Gators softball host Rebels for series

The No. 1 Florida softball team returns to SEC play today against Ole Miss in a three-game series at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Game one is slated for a 6 p.m. start.

The Gators (41-3 overall) pace the SEC in the standings with a 15-2 mark with six conference games left to play. Tennessee and Texas A&M follow closely behind with an 11-3 record in conference play and Auburn ranks fourth in the standings with a 10-5 record. Ole Miss is 31-13 overall and 6-9 in the league.

Florida is paced by its pitching staff, with Kelly Barnhill (18-0) the only pitcher in the nation left undefeated in the circle with a minimum of 15 wins on the season. Florida leads the nation in shutouts with a total of 26 on the year and 10 in SEC in play alone.

Gators open SEC Tournament today

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Florida will play Mississippi State in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Tournament at the Currey Tennis Center on the campus of Vanderbilt University, with first serve scheduled for 10 a.m. ET today.

As one of the top four seeds, the top-ranked and third-seeded Gators (21-2, 11-2 SEC) earned a double-round bye. The 20th-ranked Bulldogs (15-7, 7-6 SEC) are the No. 6 seed and defeated 11-seed Tennessee, 4-1, in their second-round match Thursday to advance.
