FULLERTON, Calif. — The No. 3 Florida softball team steamed through another weekend tournament undefeated, going 5-0 at the Judi Garman Classic after beating No. 7 UCLA 9-4 late Friday night and Northwestern 7-4 on Saturday afternoon.

The Gators are 20-1 on the season and begin SEC play next weekend by hosting Missouri.

Kelly Barnhill (8-0) teamed with Katie Chronister and Delanie Gourley to limit Northwestern.

Jordan Roberts provided the big blast for the Gators in their three-run first inning, hitting a two-run home run. Aleshia Ocasio went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

“I just want to say thanks to all of the Gator fans that came out and supported us the past three days," UF coach Tim Walton said. "The loud roars and cheers were greatly appreciated for all five of our games. Thanks for making it fun to play out west; you were a huge impact in the games we played. Thank you!”

GYMNASTICS

First SEC regular

season title on line

BATON ROUGE, La. — A trophy is on the line in the nation's top gymnastics dual meet of the weekend, when No. 3 Florida takes on No. 2 LSU at 3:30 p.m. ET today.

For the first time, the SEC is awarding a regular-season gymnastics champion (based on regular-season win-loss results). LSU leads the league standings with a 6-0 record and Florida is second at 5-1. A win or tie gives LSU the SEC title. A Florida win would have the SEC title shared between the Gators and Tigers.

The Florida (7-1 overall) at LSU (11-1) meet is the finale of two consecutive meets airing live this afternoon on the SEC Network.
