Gators enjoy perfect Senior Day outing
The Gators presented their three seniors flowers during a prematch ceremony and the trio each gifted singles wins toward Florida's 7-0 win against No. 16 Mississippi State (13-7, 6-6 SEC) on Sunday at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.
The win was top-ranked Florida's final regular-season home match, as the team plays its final two on the road and remains in contention for the SEC championship. Sunday's sweep helped Florida (20-1 overall) remain atop the SEC standings at 10-1 with Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Florida's only SEC loss was to Georgia, which lost to Vanderbilt, which lost to Kentucky. The Gators close their regular season next weekend at No. 11 Kentucky on Friday and at No. 7 Vanderbilt on Sunday, before returning to Nashville for the SEC Tournament, April 19-23.
With two seniors - Kourtney Keegan and Belinda Woolcock - in the doubles lineup, the Gators began the match winning the doubles point for the 19th time this season and both Keegan and Woolcock were part of tandems that won its respective match. Picking up singles wins were Josie Kuhlman, Anna Danilina, Spencer Liang, Ingrid Neel, Keegan and Woolcock.
Men: Florida won at Tennessee, 6-1. Winning in doubles were Alfredo Perez-Johannes Ingildsen at No. 1 and Maxx Lipman-Elliott Orkin at No. 2. Singles wins came from Perez at No. 1, Orkin at No. 2, Ingildsen at No. 4, Lipman at No. 5 and McClain Kessler at No. 6.
