ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 15 seed Florida men's tennis team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 loss to No. 2 seed Virginia on Thursday.

In doubles play, the competition stayed close in the beginning, with the teams on Courts 2 and 3 staying within one game of each other. Alfredo Perez-Johannes Ingildsen led their ranked opponent throughout the match, but the Cavaliers clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win on Court 3 and then a 6-4 win on Court 2.

In singles play, Virginia started off winning five of the first six sets, with Perez being the only Gator to pick up a win in the first set. Maxx Lipman lost his first set, but came back to win the second on Court 4 to head into a third set.

Virginia picked up its second team point on Court 2, as No. 14 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski defeated Elliott Orkin 6-3, 6-2 in the Florida senior's final collegiate match. Carl Soderlund took down Chase Perez-Blanco 6-1, 6-4 on Court 3 to give the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead.

The clinching win didn't come easily for Virginia, as Courts 5 and 6 battled back-and-forth to get the final win.

Ingildsen and Perez will return to Athens next week to compete in the NCAA Individual Championship. Perez earned the No. 8 seed in the singles tournament, while the pair of Ingildsen/Perez earned the No. 2 seed in the doubles competition.
